Almost two-thirds or 65.3% of elderly people in India feel that the increasing acceptance of mobile and technology has affected their personal interaction with younger kids.

PAN Health’s Liberty in Life of Older People 2022 survey showed that 72.5% of elderly feel their generation used to spend more time with their elders while 52.4% feel lonely.

In response to another question, 51% of the participants felt that their health problems led to difficulty in getting around and performing daily chores by themselves. Joint and body pain (58.1%) topped the list for reasons limiting mobility in the elderly in India. It is interesting to note that tiredness and forgetfulness (8.4% each) were not the second biggest issue! In fact, 18% of the elderly said that urinary incontinence was the limiting factor preventing individuals over 65 years from moving around freely.

16.2% elderly said they had to rush to the toilet to pee frequently during the day or night most of the time in the last 30 days, while 31.6% had to take an urgent unanticipated leak sometimes.  27.3% of the participants said that they accidentally spilled urine on their clothes once a week while half of them did so almost daily.

The survey titled Liberty in Life of Older People was conducted by Pan Healthcare. The responses were taken from participants from 10 cities across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Patna, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
